The album features a suite of 24 short piano compositions. A series of ‘live in the studio’ videos will follow the release as well as a book with all music transcriptions and art.

After nearly four decades as a drummer, composer and bandleader, Asaf Sirkis presents Letters, his first album of original music for solo piano.

Best known for his work with Soft Machine and through longstanding collaborations including Tim Garland and Moonjune records, Sirkis has composed at the piano for many years. Letters brings together a body of work that has developed quietly alongside his public career, revealing a more private and deeply personal musical voice.

The album is a cycle of twenty-four short, through-composed piano pieces, performed by Sirkis himself.

“These pieces were never written with performance or recording in mind. They became the most honest way I could express musical thoughts that could not be expressed in words. Looking back, they feel like letters written over many years.”

Recorded in February 2026 at Ursa Major Studio (Italy) on a beautifully restored 1915 Steinway concert grand piano, Letters captures the warmth, intimacy and distinctive character of an instrument whose voice became an essential part of the music.

Rather than marking a departure from Sirkis’s earlier work, Letters reveals another facet of an artist whose commitment to thoughtful composition and expressive storytelling has remained constant throughout his career.
